West Riding Wildfowlers was originally formed as Ossett and District Wildfowlers and Woodpigeon Association (ODWWA) in 1977. After becoming affiliated to WAGBI in 1980 its name was changed to the present one in the early 1980's, the majority of the membership leaned towards Wildfowling and it was thought that the new name was more appropriate. After discussions with John Swift of the BASC, the club was permitted to have its club badge / logo in the same format as the old WAGBI badge, but with a differing background. The production of the badges was undertaken by the manufacturers of the WAGBI badge. An example of the badge has been in BASC's possession since the early 1990's. The Green W.R.W. badge is recognised as the Clubs official one, the colour being more appealing to conservationists. Five of their membership are founder members and have been in the WRW since day one. The club is also affiliated to the Countryside Alliance and celebrated their 30th anniversary on the 7th of July 2007. Although not a very large club the membership has been fairly stable. The club arranges Goose shooting, Duck shooting and Game shooting trips to Scotland and can also arrange pigeon shooting. The West Riding Wildfowlers are affiliated to BASC and became affiliated to the South Humber Area Joint Council of wildfowling clubs (SHAJC) in 2002. The members enjoy wildfowling on several stretches on both banks of the river Humber.
